When I named the company 283 Capital, it was a tribute to the house I grew up in — the place that gave me stability, clarity, and belief.
But as I reflected more, I realized the name carried other special meanings too — some coincidental, some deeply personal.
For one, ‘83 is my birth year — and also the year when Kapil Paaji and the team brought home India’s first Cricket World Cup. A legendary moment in our country’s history.
And being someone who loves playing with numbers, I dug a little deeper — and discovered something fascinating.
283 is a mathematically unique number.
It is the only non-zero odd number that satisfies both of these conditions for a N-digit number:
1). (First Digit) ^ (Last Digit) = Middle Digit(s)
2). (First Digit)! + (Last Digit)! = Middle Digit(s)
Try it yourself —
2³ = 8 and 2! + 3! = 8
For clarity, there are a few other numbers like 2083 and 20083 that follow a similar pattern — but they are essentially padded versions with zeros in the middle. The core remains 283.
So in many ways, 283 is unique — just like the founders we love working with.
